Best CAM for turning parts

Best CAM for turning parts

Best CAM for turning parts

(OP)
Hello All,

Currently my company uses UG NX 7.5 with the total machining package, for CAD and CAM

We are evaluating switching to a different CAM Package, but we really need one that specializes in turning operations.

We have a wide variety of machines and controllers here, and our old controllers can't handle line by line programing of the threads, it swamps their memory.

Currently NX isn't capable of running threading as a Canned Cycle so we need to what our options are.

Thanks for the advice

Please see my response to your similar post in the UGS: Unigraphics UG/NX forum, regarding turning cycle output from NX CAM.

RE: Best CAM for turning parts

We use SmartCam. It has a couple of Lathe modules to choose from, will support multi-axis machines, and has code generators for just about any machine control out there.
You can also create your own code generator with ease.
And it also works very well with canned cycles.
(I'm not selling, been a user for a couple of decades and this stuff works.)

Here is their website for info.
