Water Tube NG Fired Boiler Preservation

Water Tube NG Fired Boiler Preservation

Water Tube NG Fired Boiler Preservation

(OP)
We are going to have a new water tube boiiler (NG Fired)at our site.

Currently, we need to store it for some period as the installation time is uncertain.

The Boiler has steam drum, water drum and many tubes connecting these 02 drums. We wish to preserve it for unknown period.

We are planning to fill Nitrogen in the Boiler for preservation. What else we can do for its effective preservation?

Please suggest...!

RE: Water Tube NG Fired Boiler Preservation

Without knowing any more than you have given about your boiler, it is hard to offer any suggestions.  For example, is it a type A, type D, something else, and if so, what?

2. Design pressure 12 bar, Cpaacity 30TPH

3. Fuel : NG

3. No Economisor, No Deaerator & No Super Heater

5. 01 FD Fan

6. 02 burners

7. 01 steam drum 01 water drum

Hope the info above will be ok?

I would get in touch with Cortec and discuss your problem. We almost exclusively use vapor phase corrosion inhibitors for storing CS components.

Since you say that it's a new boiler, I'd ask the manufacturer so that you don't void your warranty.

RE: Water Tube NG Fired Boiler Preservation

Munters has a dehumidifier called Humicool just for situations like yours.  If you are in a climate where the tubes can go through the dew point, the insides will sweat and that will rust the tubes.  Controling the humidity in the unit while in storage will help protect the outside of the tubes as well as the interior of the casing.

PS: since you didn't tell me it had 2 mud drums, that said a lot to me.  I guessed type "O" and googled the numbers, and yes it is a type O package boiler.  Thanks for the additional information.  I have seen boilers of your type stored with the Munters Humicool units for extended periods in very humid climates.
