Curvature combs

Curvature combs

How do I display Curvature combs when editing face with x-form, in syncro modelling?

RE: Curvature combs

To start with, Curvture Combs can only be applied to edges and curves, not to a face itself.   Now you could create a series of Associative Section Curves through a face if you were interested in more than just the edges of the face, and add Curvature Combs to them before you edit the face using X-Form.  But to do this you will need to FIRST create an X-Form feature on the face, go to...

Preferences -> Modeling -> Update

...and set 'Dynamic Update' to 'Continuous', THEN create any additional Section Curves as needed before going to...

Analysis -> Curve -> Curve Analysis...

...and selecting the edges and curves that you wish to see the Curvature Combs displayed on.  Only then can you now go back and edit the existing X-Form feature, remembering that you can NOT use Edit With/Roolback but rather 'Edit Parameters' and as you now move the face polls you will see the 'combs' dynamically update as the shape of the face changes.

Thank You, I guess I was watching that youtube video of the guy building the camera and it seems he was turning it off and on at will

RE: Curvature combs

there is a way to create you own "buttons" that you can add to a toolbar, maybe that's what the guy in the video did

RE: Curvature combs

Curvature combs can be be displayed on faces/ surfaces by a feature called Section Analysis.  It allows you to control how many sections, how the sections are defined, the scale and density etc of the curvature combs. You don't need to set the preference dynamic update when using the Section Analysis. Analysis - Shape - Section...
The Section analysis is not timestamped which means that you can add it to a body which already has an X-Form feature or similar. It will update in realtime whatever change you do.
You do probably need to play around with the needle scale to get the display that you desire.
Rmb-click the section analysis in the graphics window to edit / delete etc.

 Tomas
