180 deg. Elbow Joint Manufacturer?

180 deg. Elbow Joint Manufacturer?

180 deg. Elbow Joint Manufacturer?

(OP)
I am hoping someone can help me find a manufacturer of a particular type of mechanical joint. The joint is to be used in a collapsing assembly with light loads (self weight only). The kind of joint I had in mind was the type that locks into position at 180 deg. position, and allows rotation by some sort of release mechanism, similar to the kind used to fold table umbrellas.

I would really appreciate any suggestions, went to Home Depot and they didn't have a clue (hey it's a start!).

Thanks in advance,
Dan

RE: 180 deg. Elbow Joint Manufacturer?

Dear Dan;

Some places to try might be CR Laurence in Woodbridge, who sell store fixture components to the glass industry. They have an excellent huge catalogue called "Big Red" showing many available store fixture parts. Ontario Store Fixtures might even have some components although I'm not sure if they have a retail outlet. Companies selling trade show display equipment that have knock down frames might incorporate these components. Carr-Lane Jig and Fixture components is another possibility, albeit more expensive. I'm sure a toolmaker could create whatever design you like should the above not pan out.

I just did a search at mcmaster.com for locking hinge and it returned a page in their catalogue has a device similar to what you're describing.
