How to close the ends of this sheet metal food hopper?
How to close the ends of this sheet metal food hopper?
(OP)
Gentlemen:
Can you please let me know how to close the ends of this sheet metal food hopper? I tried using a 3D Sketch but it would not extrude at all. Your help will be appreciated. SolidWorks 2007 file attached.
Thanks

RE: How to close the ends of this sheet metal food hopper?
I did it in Solidworks 2009. so I don't think you can open my part file. here are the steps:
1. EXTRUDE profile of the entire volume
2. EXTRUDE-CUT 2x1.5 bottom corners.
3. SHELL .07 thickness, removing top face
4. RIP edges down to bottom
5. INSERT-BENDS
see attached screen shots.

Can you please save your part file as "Parasolid Binary" so I can open it?
Thanks

But It is going to be almost impossible to bend in one piece. I would suggest creating end plates that are welded on. Especially since you are using 14ga. You really aren't saving much on weld bending it all in one piece and your blank cost is going to be huge since you have this giant + sign.
