Ansys MPC/ rigid element question

Ansys MPC/ rigid element question

Ansys MPC/ rigid element question

(OP)
Hi all,

I am new to FE modeling. I am trying to model a disc supported on its face, say by three supports. The load is applied to the center of the disc. I want to know the reaction on supports.

Now instead of making a disc, and assigning material property thickness and all, I am thinking perhaps I could model it with three rigid lines connected at a point. So the question is will MPC element work in such case? What element should I use?

thanks.

RE: Ansys MPC/ rigid element question

Why can't you work this out with a hand calculation?

good question. I could but this is just a dummy problem. I am trying to learn Ansys as well.

RE: Ansys MPC/ rigid element question

"I am trying to learn Ansys as well." - MPC's are the last thing you should be looking at if you are learning. They are artificial elements that should be avoided. Get a tutorial book and enrol yourself on a begineers course for FEA.
