goose neck of a storage silo

goose neck of a storage silo

(OP)
Hi,...

I'm calculating the diameter of the free vent of a storage silo. (No safety panel vent, it is a goose neck)

The silo is storing solid product (PET), it is fed by pneumatic transport (conveying system).

Could you help me with guide, rules of thumbs, best practices, etc in order to calculate the correct diameter of goose neck (vent)?

Thanks a lot,...

Regards,...

RE: goose neck of a storage silo

Silos storing solids typically generate dust and almost always use a "bin vent filter".

The sizing of the filter depends on the model selected.

thanks for the comment,...

In this case the silo is vented to the atmosphere (free vent)

I will increase the flow of raw materialto the silo (solid + air) and I need to calculate the new vent diameter,...

May I use the ASME or API codes for safety valvules for this calculation? ¿Is it correct?

I check the web site,...

thaks a lot,...
