Graph Plastic Zone

Graph Plastic Zone

Graph Plastic Zone

(OP)
Hello,
I need to compare the plastic zone size and shape at a notch at different applied loads. I can see the plastic zone quite clearly in results but I would like to be able to graph the shape of it in excel i.e graph the outline of the plastic zone.
Does anyone have any ideas how this might be possible.
Thanks

RE: Graph Plastic Zone

You can manually pick the nodes (using the probe) that describe the shape of the zone and write the results out to a file.

Thanks for the reply. Yes this is probably my only option, its just that i have a lot nodes in the model and a lot of zones to compare.
The model is elastic and zone plasticity is anything abobe yield stress. I can create a line contour plots with just a single contour which is at the yield stress which is therefore the plastic zone shape. I had hoped there might be a way of exporting a line contour plot to excel.

RE: Graph Plastic Zone

If you're comfortable with python scripting you could write a script to output nodal co-ordinates of elements that are near the yield stress and import then into excel.
