Deburring Waterjet Cut Copper Sheet
Deburring Waterjet Cut Copper Sheet
(OP)
Hi, not sure if this is the right forum to have this in- but I have had some gaskets water jet cut from copper sheet, 0.5mm thick which has a left large burrs around the cuts on the rear (and a small lip on the front).
What options do I have for deburring them- I have looked into the regular options but as these are gaskets and need to be perfectly uniform thickness I dont believe many are suitable. They are approx 18" long by 5" wide, and only 19thou thick, so easy to damage.
At the moment I'm doing it manually with a good steel edge and needle files, but of course this is far from ideal in terms of speed!

I know copper is not the best material for laser cutting, but most shops will cut 3mm or less, and it might solve the burr problem.

If you do not have enough parts to justify buying a machine they may point you to one of their customers who can do the job for you.

Just kidding...
I worked with this gentleman years ago. He is world renowned as a deburr expert. You could get some good advice from him.
