motion with a cable?

motion with a cable?

(OP)
I would like to model a machine that has a linkage bar, pulleys, and a cable. The cable is attached to the linkage bar and then passes around the pulleys so the angle that the cable enters the pulley is changing. Is there a way I can model this to do a motion analysis?

RE: motion with a cable?

no - if the weight were attached to a lever arm so the angle the rope is leaving the pulley changes as the arm pivots that would be more like it.
Imagine an exercise machine with the cable attached to a mechanical arm and then going around a pulley system. A force is applied to the arm and the forces on the pulley are changing direction.
