remotely monitoring voltages (real-time)

remotely monitoring voltages (real-time)

remotely monitoring voltages (real-time)

(OP)
Greetings,

I am looking for a way to remotely (back at the office) monitor in real time the voltage at specific homes.

I like Smart Sync's "smart box" that provides a cellular path back but they do not provide the voltage sensors / meters that would plug into their box.

While I do not have to go the smart box way - just found that piece.

Bottom line - I need real time voltage measurements at a house (external at their meter base) - perhaps something that could attach to their collar? When I say real time - it needs to be a real time as possible - a data file showing what the voltage was an hour ago is not acceptable.

Any brainstorming and thoughts?

Thanks
Sparky0

Hey waross -

I'm looking for "voltmeters" that can provide the data that would connect to devices like those.

I'm needing voltmeters I can remotely read ~ perhaps connect to the meter's collar.

RE: remotely monitoring voltages (real-time)

Many of the advanced metering infrastrucutre (AMI) meters have the capability of reporting voltages upon request.  There are numerous communications media available for these meters, some of which include, I believe, cellular band comms.  The key feature in these is the two-way communications; older meters will report a pre-scheduled snapshot of voltages, but the newer versions can be asked to report voltages (and many other parameters) in near-real-time.  I think I'd just contact my favorite metering equipment supplier and ask for guidance.

Browse the omega.com site for the added hardware.
