Stress Life - Strain Life Fatigue Query

Stress Life - Strain Life Fatigue Query

Stress Life - Strain Life Fatigue Query

(OP)
Dear Experts,

We have experimentally tested fatigue data of cast steel notched and unnotched dumbell specimens to which there is a stress life curve.
Is this stress life curve suitable for stress above yield of the material as we have determined from our FEA?

I realise strain life curve would be more suitable since it accounts for local plasticity, this is data we do not have.

Thanks

a star to you. The contributors to  that link include Downing & Socie- their papers were the basis of my work in the 90's on boiler stress analyzers that use the rainflow cycle counting theorem. I'll see if they have a seminar near to where I expect to be in the next 6 mos.
