Voting For SWW Top Ten 2011 Ideas
(OP)
There over 25,000 members of this forum, and over 55,000 members of the official SW forum at https://forum.solidworks.com
So how come there are so few votes cast in the Ideas section?
ht tps://foru m.solidwor ks.com/com munity/gen eral/swwor ld?view=id ea&num Results=15
Approx 500 Ideas have been submitted (which is good), but the current top idea has only 117 votes (which is pathetic).
At a guess, I would say less than 200 people have bothered to participate. Is it apathy? Are so many people ignorant of the Top Ten Ideas concept? Or is it shear laziness?
We are being given a direct opportunity to influence (even it is a PR gimmick) which functions of SW should be created or enhanced. That opportunity should not be wasted.

RE: Voting For SWW Top Ten 2011 Ideas
I have tried for a couple years to get help from SW and my VAR, I guess they don't know how to update my info.
They gave up on me, therefore I gave up on their forums, etc.
Otherwise I would participate in the ideas.

You don't even need a current subscription to create an account. I don't know if that applies to the Ideas section though.

Called them numerous times, no go.

Have you tried creating a Guest account?
If that works try upgrading the account via the Register My Products section.
RE: Voting For SWW Top Ten 2011 Ideas
Yes.
Tried.
The email I tried in the past, this company and two others, will not allow me to login.
SW and my VAR tell me it has been fixed, but still does not work.
I recently received a new work email account.
I will try with this new email.

I submitted 5 ideas and hardly received any votes. I did get a few good comments. Nice thing that they have this year is you can see who voted on your ideas, and shows how they voted.
If you would like to see my ideas, here are the links:

Like CBL mentioned, this is where SW users can be heard!

When SW support explains to you that you need to contact your VAR, then you explain to them you have and they have not go back in touch with me... blah, blah, blah. Bascially it black flags the VAR and they can dinged by SW and of course the flag travels downward to the support rep, which should have done the job in the first place. So provide any information you can to SW to make sure the responsbile person remembers next time something like this happens again.

Voting for it helps the colorblind, so help us stop making yellow parts green, red parts brown...

I know it won't happen but, as stated, it would be interesting to see how SW would handle the situation if it did top the list. <evil grin>
RE: Voting For SWW Top Ten 2011 Ideas
I can log in and get to the forums, but I did not see an obvious route to the idea voting area. Can any of you tell me where to find it?

Your not suppose to be able to.

I can log into the customer portal and view my details and subscription information, but if I click on the forum links from there I get stuck in the same loop. This happens on both my work and home computers and with both IE8 and Chrome.
There is probably a clue at the end of the second URL where it says: accountDisabled=true, but I can get to the customer portal and it shows my subscription as active there. And even if the account were disabled, an infinite loop is a pretty poor way of indicating that fact. With the difficulty that people have accessing their forum, it is not surprising that the ideas area does not get a lot of votes.
And yes, sometime when I am less annoyed by this I will contact SW or my VAR and try to get it straightened out.

But I am over there checking it out now.
