repeated flexplate failure after factory engine installation

repeated flexplate failure after factory engine installation

(OP)
What causes repeated flexplate failure? A 1995 for windstar had a factory rebuild engine installed under warranty and now has had 2 flexplates in 30000 miles and now needs a 3rd. Torque converter and crankshaft where replaced after 2nd failure. Lasted 15000 more miles and cracked again. Any ideas?

RE: repeated flexplate failure after factory engine installation

the first thing that comes to my mind is misalignment of the transmission relative to the engine (or vice-versa).

RE: repeated flexplate failure after factory engine installation

I agree chek your mounts and possibily get a body manual so you can make some measurments and find out what bent, twisted, or mis-aligned.
