My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

(OP)
Need some help here, my copy of ansys 12.1 wont provide solutions. When you click solve current ls it says it has done it but the values for everything are just zero.

Funny thing is previous models ive created on other computers work fine and will give me perfect solutions.

Does anybody know what the problem could be?

Any help would be very much appreciated.

RE: My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

hi,

i'm facing the same problem as well on ansys 12.1.
some of it i solve by changing the way i constraint the model as i realized that the nodes are numbered differently in different version of ansys.

not sure if this comment is useful but
maybe you can try and look at it

kind regards,
Ee Lian

I will have a look at that because looking at the code and using my brief knowledge of such things it looked like that was where the problem was. What exactly did you do when you say you changed the constraints?

Thanks for your input btw.

RE: My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

i have limited knowledge of ansys as well.
i just started using a few months back(switched from old version to 12.1 in december)

because i use nodes (eg node x) to constraint my model, so, a check of the error file reveals certain nodes (node y) are insufficiently constraint.

re-run-ing with node y (and not x) constraint solves it
a plot of the nodes proves that the numbering are different in both version

i hope my explaination is clear

Well i got it to work and dont i feel stupid. The simple test model i was using to test it worked was not solving because......

i was applying an axial load to a tensile element. And yes i do feel stupid. lol, program now works fine.

RE: My new copy of ANSYS wont provide solutions!!

great that things work out for you :)

it took me a long time to discover my problem as well
i have the same idiotic feeling as well

but i guess, it takes a lot of patience and time to understand ansys
