Tooling split, need help

Tooling split, need help

Tooling split, need help

(OP)
I have attached a fairly simple part which I am trying to create core and cavity. Used the phone tutorial to walk me through it, when I made my shut off surfaces, I got a green box that said "The mold is separable into core and cavity"

I create a plane to part on, draw my cavity block and I get a failure to knit message, or a message telling me my tooling split must not exceed the boundary of my sketch.

I feel like I am missing something simple.. perhaps a shut off on the back side of the part where it is open.. but I  don't know what lines to follow for the shut off..

Thanks in advance

I tried the steps in the TUT to no avail, thank you for the help but if someone could actually try and part the model I attached in this thread, or offer me some more help, I would greatly appreciate.
I dont understand why this part keeps failing to "knit"

I haven't looked at your part yet, but that typically means you have made your tooling beyond the edge of the surface used to split the two sides.  Extend the splitting surface out further or make the sketch for the tool smaller.  (now I'll take a look and see how close I was)
