Covered Patio

(OP)
I was wondering about Covered patios. I have been looking into the requirements about when they are required. I hear this both ways about when they are or are not required, and I can't find anything in NFPA 13. Am I just missing it?

RE: Covered Patio

Do not have the book with me

Look under canopy or overhang

Normaly anything over 4 feet with some exceptions

RE: Covered Patio

Take a look at NFPA 13 2010 8.15.7, beginning to end.  Should answer all your questions.

RE: Covered Patio

If you are dealing with Group R-2 apartments of combustible construction, the 2009 International Fire Code has sprinkler protection requirements that are more restrictive than NFPA 13 for balconies and decks.
