Replacement liquid for Light Arabian Crude during test

Replacement liquid for Light Arabian Crude during test

(OP)
I have to find a comparable fluid to replace a liquid fuel during a test of a liquid fuel system in our facility. We normally flush the system with VG32 Turbine oil after we manufacture the system and ship it out. The typical fuel used in these systems is Light Arabian Crude, #2 Crude, distillate or diesel depending on the end customer. I cannot accomodate each of these fuels but would like to find a non flammable alternative that would lost closely replicate the mean of the properties of these fuels, ie viscosity, compressability. Any ideas other than fuel in my facility?

RE: Replacement liquid for Light Arabian Crude during test

The  replacement fluid you want to use may depend on the type of tests you are conducting.  For example, there would be no point in using anything other than water, if you were only pressure testing for leak or strength.  If you're testing for pressure loss during a flow test through your system, then something else might be appropriate.  What is the object of the tests are you doing?

I would be doing performance testing. All components have been hydro tested before installation. I think that I have found a replacement. VersaGen 100, a biodiesel with a high flashpoint and a similar properties to #2 fuel oil. My only concern is comparability with NBR o rings with a Rapeseed oil methyl ester.

RE: Replacement liquid for Light Arabian Crude during test

I would have thought biodiesel is more flamable than light crude.  Didn't you say nonflamable up there.
