Design Code of Construction of Chlorine Tank?

Design Code of Construction of Chlorine Tank?

Design Code of Construction of Chlorine Tank?

(OP)
This is out for bid and speced by Client.  A vertical, above ground, 10' dia x 30' tall chrorine tank under 3 psi consisting of liquid & vapor.  No exotic metals, just 1/2" thk carbon plate with flat top and flat bottom reinforced top & bottom wiht I-beams.  All CJP welds except for fillet welds flat bottom to shell wall.

Seems API 620 code has been suggested over VIII. Being unfamiliar with 650 code, I see RT is required but would like to forgo hydro since this would be a large amount of water!  Also noticed in 650 Code, the prerequisite for air testing before hydro, is this a requirement?

Is this possible by just getting the Purchaser's written waiver with maybe extra RT shots to give assurance, and fluorescent dye penetrant on bottom floor and all welded seams?

Thanks greatly in advance for comments and advice...

RE: Design Code of Construction of Chlorine Tank?

I know nothing about API codes but what do you mean by a chlorine tank vapor and liquid. If its pure dry chlorine gas at room temperature, fine for a steel tank but for any other type of "chlorine" it won't last very long.

Chlorine Institute Pamphlet #6 has all you need.
