Automatically change dimension to set a parts mass?

Automatically change dimension to set a parts mass?

Automatically change dimension to set a parts mass?

(OP)
Hi All,

I'm trying to model up a dynamics problem and I was wondering if it's possible to adjust a dimension with a mass goal in mind. So if I want the mass of the part to be 5kg, Solidworks will adjust a dimension I specify in order to hit that value.

In excel it's called goal seek I believe.

Thanks.

RE: Automatically change dimension to set a parts mass?

Sounds to me you should use a design table using the excel goal seek functionality.

You can add a lot of functionality to design tables, just skip a row below your dimensional parameters.

A sensor will allow you to modify the driving dimensions and will alert you when you reach the critical value.
