What does EE need to get into solar?

What does EE need to get into solar?

(OP)
What do you think an electrical engineer, PE, with lots of utility, distribution, substation experience need to get a job designing solar systems and other engineering work for solar project developers? How does one get that experience and necessary credentials? What are the credentials. Where to get started and what's really necessary.
Interested in actual engineering of solar systems rather than simpler installation work. Also, interested in the power stuff, not in solar electronics.
Would really appreciate some guidance and word from experienced engineers.
Thank you!

RE: What does EE need to get into solar?

A few suggestions for getting into the industry are are:
-Take an introductory course from Solar Energy International.
-Attend some of the solar trade shows, such as Solar Power International or PV America.
-Read some of the trade journals, such as SolarPro Magazine.
-Check jobs listings or just cold call some of the larger companies out there.

Good luck,
John
