Service Temp for LTCS pipes

Service Temp for LTCS pipes

Service Temp for LTCS pipes

(OP)
1)What's the temp limit for normal CS pipe & LTCS pipe?

2) Is the temp limit for product inside or pipe temp.?

3) What if the ambient temp swings from 50*c to -25*C.
   Will it be required to go for LTcs for all cases or
   need surface insulation?

RE: Service Temp for LTCS pipes

ak1965;
1). Review ASME B31.3 - section 323.3. You can look at figure 323.2.2A for various curves, which are based on material composition.

For no impact testing -

CS,  -20 deg F
LTCS is lower than above with no impact testing.

2). Pipe metal temperature.

3). You need to perform a thermal displacement analysis and suitability for cyclic service, again review B31.3.
