Hello all,

I've had Workbench 12.1 thrust upon me and am trying to figure out how to apply a moment to a 2D axisymmetric model.  There's "Moment" listed under loads but it doesn't seem to work for me.  
I've modeled a splined shaft as a 2D axisymmetric model (Y being the axis of revolution, of course), fixed one end and applied the "Moment" along the spline edge on the other end.  Workbench shows the moment symbol centered on the edge which seems incorrect. The model produces zero stress so I know it's not being applied correctly.
I made a duplicate and instead of leaving the default coordinate system, I made a new one just in case, and referenced that coordinate system in the "Moment" options.  Still zero stress.  I even tried changing the moment from about the Y to the X but still zero stress.  I then tried applying the moment about the body (no stress) and the entire face of the shaft(no stress).
What am I missing?  Any and all help to this poor soul is appreciated!

Unless you have 2D axisymmetric shell elements then there is no rotational dof and hence you can't apply a moment directly to one node. The moment would have to be about the Z (or hoop direction) as axisymmetric geometry implies there is no rotation/moment about the X (R) or Y (Z) directions. To apply a moment you'd have to apply two forces at some distance apart.

One of the ansys guys here told me I needed to switch element types to a harmonic element for this to work.
