Pipe Coatings

Pipe Coatings

Pipe Coatings

(OP)
We are currently experiencing corrosion resistance problems in some test cell piping due to temperature changes in the pipes forming condensation after runs.  The items we are testing are running on air bearings and I was curious if there was a simple coating that could be placed inside of the pipes that would have good erosion, thermal, and corrosion resistance.  We can't get anything in the air bearings and the setup we currently have will not cut it.  Some of the pipes are "U" shaped and the longest of them is nearly 4 feet long and 4 inches in diameter.  I was thinking a good powder coating would do the trick, but I am not sure if it would stand up to 200 lb/min air flow over time.

RE: Pipe Coatings

Coating the inside of a pipe could be tricky, but powdercoaters are pretty clever.  You should be talking to one, in person.  Bring your blueprints.

mdavied   You could help us to help you by giving the temperature, pressure  and air flow speed through a 4" pipe. There are several types of plastic with widely differing properties and maybe one of these might help.

Or just heat trace the pipes to avoid condensation...

Thank you everyone for your advice.  We have cleaned them well enough to test one unit, but we will soon be rebuilding the stand with all new stainless piping that has been electropolished.
