Changing transparency of all parts in ass'y?

Changing transparency of all parts in ass'y?

Changing transparency of all parts in ass'y?

(OP)
Only noticed this as I came to render something the other day: working in SW 2008, a couple of components in my assembly are transparent. 'No problem', I thought, so I right click to change to opaque, but the option is already un-selected. Odd. Go to the tree, check down the list and all appear opaque, yet the part is transparent in the display?!

Is there a command to make all opaque or have I done something else wrong?

RE: Changing transparency of all parts in ass'y?

Has a transparent material been applied at the part level?

Is the part set to transparent at the part level?

1. Just opened the individual part and the material is set to mild steel. Plus when the part is open on its own it's completely opaque.

2. Doesn't seem to be.

Furthermore, as an experiment I just selected another part in the tree, clicked transparent, hit esc to deselect it and it was transparent. I then picked the same part again from the tree, click transparent and it doesn't change back?! Not had an issue with this one before!

Yeah, it will make a difference if it is at the part or the assy level.  This would be easy to do if it is at the assy level.  Just right click anywhere on the display pane and click on clear all top level overrides.

However, it sounds like the parts have been made transparent at the part level, so you will probably have to open each individual part, change to opaque, and save.

I bloody love the pooled knowledge that is internet forums! jobiewan99, please pass go and collect £100. I opened the display pane, cleared all top level overrides and although I had to go through and check some individual parts, that cured it.

Still no idea why it didn't just make the part opaque when I clicked the button though?!

Thanks guys!

Wow, thanks for the kind words.  I wish I could get a complement like that here at work.  Anyways, I'm quite glad I was able to help.
