Can I replace Aluminium A383 or A380 in the place of 356-T6

Can I replace Aluminium A383 or A380 in the place of 356-T6

Can I replace Aluminium A383 or A380 in the place of 356-T6

(OP)
I have a situation in manufacturing of a aluminium casting where we use GDC. The component will be exposed to atmosphere continuesly and we are expecting very long life say 20 years. we are mainly conserned about corrosion.  As it is little bit difficult to work with '356-T6' which we are thinking to use, i am thinking of A383 or A380. Please suggest.thank you.

You'd better get used to 356-T6, because you will be hard pressed to find a founder who will supply anything else unless your volumes reach thousands per day.

A383 or A380 will have significantly worse corrosion resistance than A356.  Depending on the exact details of your application (environment, temperature, mating components, etc.) you may need to use a high quality coating in order to achieve the desired lifetime.

413 would be a much better choice if your primary concern is corrosion. You do sacrifice some strength though.
