Simplest method - copy a part -all references broken
Simplest method - copy a part -all references broken
(OP)
I'm looking for the simplest-fastest- cleanest way to make a copy of a part with all references broken from the original, with all features available for subsequent design changes. This is a case where it is more efficient to start from a copy and not need to manage changes in configurations. It seems that doing a save as leaves references. I'm using the basic core version. Breaking references leaves me nothing to edit. Often when I split a body from a mutly body ( part file ). I want to be able to call that body a completely separate part with all it's features available for editing. I know this is very basic.
I have searched the forums and have ordered some books on Solidworks

"Save As Copy" is what you want.
I think both options are useful, but it's more than a little confusing. Also it's this little checkbox, right? One obscure checkbox should not have this much power!!
