welding of casting

(OP)
I have to weld a BW Flange[A105] to a A216 Gr WCB casting. Joint requires 100% RT.Welding process is either GTAW or SMAW or combination of both.Which filler rod or electrode i should use???which coupon[BASE MATERIAL] i should weld to qualify the PQR???

RE: welding of casting

Are impact tests required? If not, the base material could be any P-No 1 base material - use SA 516 plate or A 105 plate, etc., for a groove weld procedure qualification. I would recommend using a GTAW/SMAW process combination for an open root butt weld.

GTAW  SFA 5.18 ER70S-2
SMAW SFA 5.1   E7018 H4
