Foundation analysis software

Foundation analysis software

(OP)
Hi everyone,

Need your opinion to buy a foundation software for the company for industriel projects where deep foundation often used (mat foundation).

Thanks,

RE: Foundation analysis software

Mat foundations are usually referred to as shallow foundation.  Pile caps or drilled piers are usually referred to as deep foundations.  Which one do you have again?

The RISAFoundation software is fairly good for both.  But, it's really geared towards a purely structural engineer.  You're not going to get a whole lot of fancy non-linear soil assumptions. There is a demo version on our website (Disclaimer: I actually work for RISA) if you want to download a trial version.

Thanks OoshPlum for your reply,

I am being hasitating between RISAFoundation and STAAD Foundation.

RE: Foundation analysis software

I haven't used RISA Foundation, but I have used STAAD Foundation.

STAAD Foundation is basically a fancy GUI for the STAAD FEM engine.  It's pretty clunky, the output isn't that great, the input is difficult (but a little easier than STAAD Pro).  I haven't been too impresed.

If you have a chance to use something different, it's probably better not to go with STAAD at this point.

Thanks Gumpmaster,
I think I will go for RISAFoundation then
I appreciate your comments guys

RE: Foundation analysis software

I've been looking for a good piece of software to analyze and design pile caps.  I'm still using that old dos-based CRSI program.
