Fin Fan Cooler - Condensate Leaking from tube header

Fin Fan Cooler - Condensate Leaking from tube header

(OP)
Hallo,

I need simple help, I ahve problem with leaking of liquid from tube header. Beside replacing the new plug ( if the internal threaded still ok) or welded the plug ( last option and will provide no more option for instrusive inspection), is there any new techniques or applications (such as technical approved sealant)which can use to overcome this problem. Thanks

RE: Fin Fan Cooler - Condensate Leaking from tube header

Try "Old School" first.  Try tightening up the 'leaker'.

If that doesn't work: Take offline and drain header down below plug.  Pull leaker, chase the hole threads lightly if they look good, recut a round or 2 if threads look 'wasted'.  Then install a new plug, using a good grade of pipe dope, like "RectorSeal Soft".

Duwe6, tqvm for the info....really appreciate it.

I would use welding as the last resort as the heat input may affect the adjacent plugs - you might fix the leaking one but have the ones surrounding it leaking too.
