Setting style preference for diameter dimensions

Setting style preference for diameter dimensions

Setting style preference for diameter dimensions

(OP)
I find that I am constantly changing the dimension style for while applying diameter dimensions in my drawings. I prefer a single arrow attached to the edge of the feature (hole) identical to the radial dimension style with the exception, of course, the diameter symbol in place of the "R".

If I do all my diameter dims one after another the style is remembered but if I don't or I move on to the next drawing I have to again go to the style dialoge and make about 4 changes to get back to what I prefer.

I have found no preference settings that allow me to set a different default for diameter dimensions. What options do I have?

Thanks,

I am using 7.5.2.5 NATIVE on Dell with windows XP OS

RE: Setting style preference for diameter dimensions

So is what you are saying is that you remove one of the arrows, and one of the extension lines, for the diameter dimension? a cylindrical diameter dimension - right?

After I select a hole to dimension and I see that the dimension style not what I need I then open the style dialog box

1.Select the "Dimensions" tab
2.Set "Manual Placement-Arrows Out"
3.Unselect "Display Arrow on Side 2"
4.Unselect "Display Extension Line on Side 2"
5.On occassion I also have to set "No Line Between Arrows"
6. Hit "OK" and place my dimension.

I have gotten use to doing this almost every time I place a diameter dimension but I don't want to be doing this 1 year from now. So if there is a solution to this, now's the time to implement it.

Thanks,

To clarify. This issue does not pertain to use of the "Cylindrical Dimension" but to use of the "Diameter Dimension"

Have you ever tried to use 'Hole Dimension'?

There it is, right in front of my face. I use the "Inferred Dimension" icon 90% of the time. I did not think to look thru the expanded list for an alternative to the "Diameter Dimension".  I'm almost embarrassed... but not quite.

Thanks John. You make it look easy.
