Ramp rates for hardening of PH stainless steels.

(OP)
I am working on implementing a new heat treating line, and am curious to see what, if any, guidelines exist for controlling/programing the ramp rates for the oven.

I will mainly be age hardening PH SS per AMS 2758/3. So I am aware of the required soak times. I am just looking for some advice on proper ramp rates.

RE: Ramp rates for hardening of PH stainless steels.

We age tubing (17-7 and 17-4).  We ramp as fast as we can.
Parts are placed into a hot furnace and away we go.

RE: Ramp rates for hardening of PH stainless steels.

Depends on part size, thickness and geometry. For thick, complex-shaped parts, I would not simply place them into a hot furnace. You can use heating and cooling ramp rates in various codes and standards .
