NX6 Deform Part

NX6 Deform Part

NX6 Deform Part

(OP)
I am using "Deform Part" for the first time.
Everything seems to be working fine except when I go into my assembly and try to deform the part -
I get the message "Unable To Paste", and the part stays as it is normally.
What could be causing this?

RE: NX6 Deform Part

I figures out what the problem was; I did not have all the features of the deformed part selected properly in the parent component part.

RE: NX6 Deform Part

Hi Jerry

You need to recreate your deformable part and add all features even datum csys

RE: NX6 Deform Part

It is strange, that you always need to define ALL features manualy. If deformable part does not work even then one of the features (not necessarily deformable feature) is missing, why are not they added automaticaly?
Then, it is not clear: if it is possible to have deformable part, add it to the assembly, deform it and then add other components, which are mated to this deformable part? As I understood, deformable part works if it is MATED TO other component, but does not work, if other components ARE MATED TO it. Or am I wrong? (as I remember, I tested this with NX4, and I think, I can even find this example in my pc, and post it here).

Didier - Not including the datun cyss it exacting what I did wrong.
Thanks for the tip from eex too!

RE: NX6 Deform Part

You do NOT need to include ALL the features in a Deformable Part.  In fact, that's how you make things like belts, hoses, O-rings, etc. work; you SKIP the curve(s) which define the 'path' of the original model which then causes the system to ask you to identify a new path when you add one of these types of 'Deformable' part to your assembly.
