Wondering if anyone here has had any experience with welding 310 material to G-30 hastelloy material. If so, what SMAW filler metal did you use?

Thanks,
Robert

RE: 310 to G-30 Hastelloy

qcrobert;
My question back to you is what is the intended service of this dissimilar metal weld joint? Corrosion at elevated temperature?

RE: 310 to G-30 Hastelloy

(OP)
It is for elevated temperature to weld 1/4" 310 angle clips (that hold insulation) to G-30 Hastelloy base metal.

My thoughts are using SMAW process with 3/32" dia electrodes (field install) and Hastelloy X filler metal.

Do you concur?
Robert

Here is what you need;
For shielded-metal-arc welding,
G-30 alloy covered electrodes
( E N i C r M o -11; UNS W86030)
are suggested.
