Propane LEL
Propane LEL
(OP)
I have just been given a question which i hope someone could help me answer. If we have a propane release in quite a large container and we have 10-15% LEL how do we calculate the combustion limit or start point for combustion? Is there a table/chart which i can refer to showing the LEL for propane?
Thanks,

RE: Propane LEL
An "official" listing can be found in the NFPA codes or on the MSDS (material safety data sheet) from any propane manufacturer/seller.
Good on ya,

RE: Propane LEL
You haven't been at all clear what you're on about, but if the propane stratifies toward the bottom of your container, you will exceed 100% LEL somewhere.

RE: Propane LEL
In Near-still air or Low wind speed conditions, colder ambient conditions
the Propane and LPG being invisible clouds do travelvery far away from leak source Undisturbed and usually stay within combustible LEL/ LFL range.
Flashback occurs if any ignition source is encountered by such clouds.
