Estimating weld passes

Estimating weld passes

Estimating weld passes

(OP)
I was wondering if anyone could help me with estimating the number of weld passes using a FCAW process and .052 wire. If there is a quick way to simply get a rough estimate that would be great. I know simply finding the overall area and dividing by the wire cross-section could be a possiblity but if there was another way to figure this. Any input will be helpful, mainly just curious.

RE: Estimating weld passes

Lincoln Electric, The Procedure Handbook of Arc Welding.  Great resource book.

Travel speed?  Wire feed?  Weld size?  Simplu comparing cross sectional area is not a good way.
