Mintjulep,

You've forgotten the currency

RE: how much does a finned tube exchanger cost on average?

lubee,

I see that you are new to the forum.  First, welcome to the site and I hope that using it works out well for you.

What a couple of the previous posters who have responded to your inquiry are driving at is that you have given nowhere near enough information to give an intellegent answer to your question.

My first inclination the first time I read this thread was to have answered: "sure, when you tell me how high is up."

What you are asking about comes in sizes ranging from small enough to hold in your hand to those that require rail cars to transport.

The model I work on for a day job is the latter, and MintJulip, you are way off.  The price you gave is what it costs to ship our finned Hx.  The price is more like several million, and ione, the currency is dollars.

Back to you lubee - give us some more information and maybe we can help you.

I'll give you some names to start with that you can Google.

Aerofin
Unifin
Armstrong
API Basco
Super Radiator
Thermal Engineering International
Yuba
Senior Engineering
Greens

And then there is the HVAC world which I will leave to others help with names.

................How long is a rope?

Twice as long as it is from the middle to one end.

Need a lot more information to give a useful answer.

RE: how much does a finned tube exchanger cost on average?

Hi lubee,

first of all I suggest you to read the reply by rmw.

For a conceptual (i.e. order of magnitude) cost estimation I suggest to visit the following web site:

http://www.matche.com/EquipCost/index.htm

First to procede, you'll need very preliminary information, like an idea of the heat exchange area and the material.

Take care about cost reference: FOB instead of CIF, etc. this can make the difference in your cost estimation.

Take also care about year and place: USA is not Norway and 2008 is not 2010 (well, almost 2011) ... there are different ways to update a cost.

To cross check the results, I suggest you to visit chapter 9th of Perry's Chemical Engineers' Handbook, 8th edition.
