Diaphragm Pump Leaking By

Diaphragm Pump Leaking By

(OP)
We are having an issue with a diaphragm pump. we use as a transfer pump to supply a head tank with an additive. We have not been using this additive for long and recently filled the storage tank to capacity. with the storage tank full the head pressure was able to seep back into the head tank and cause it to overfill. My question is there a way to use the Diaphragm pump a a check valve to prevent the flow of the additive or do I need to install a seperate solenoid valve to prevent flow while we are not using the pump.
Thanks,
Wes

RE: Diaphragm Pump Leaking By

Diaphragm pumps are equipped with internal ball checks.  So if you are getting back flow through the diaphragm pump then you need a new diaphragm pump or replace the ball checks in your existing pump.
