Hi

Pl. clear my doubts

if sway frame are braced building frame which are flexible in nature and with pinned end connection & zero moment

Non sway frame is moment resistant frame which are regid in nature .

I know it looks silly question but want to clear my doubts

No.

Assuming all concrete building, think shearwalls.

Shearwalls= nonsway (very stiff lateral-force-resisting member, preventing large relative displacement between column top & bottom)

No shearwall = sway frame (primary lateral resistance is provided through bending, allowing relatively large displacements between nodes)

My question is about the multistoried steel building frame without any lift or shear wall . just steel frame building

In the US, "sway" and "non-sway" are typically associated with concrete buildings.

In any case, a "sway" steel building would be one whose primary LFRS is provided through some sort of moment frame (resistance primarily through bending).

Non-sway would be a building whose LFRS consists of some sort of braces, whereby the lateral forces are transmitted directly to the foundation through primarily axial members (X-Brace, Chevron, etc..)

frv is correct.  Your original posting has the meanings reversed.

ACI uses a more general definition of sway vs. non-sway.  See sections 10.11.4.  

10.11.4.1 says:
"It shall be permitted to assume a column in a structure is nonsway if the increase in column end moments due to 2nd order effects does not exceed 5 percent of the 1st order moments."

10.11.4.2 says:
"It also shall be permitted to assume a story within a structure is not sway if Q is less than or equal to 0.05."

It goes on to define how to calculate the stability index Q.
