Borrowing/offline use - MSC Licenses, Adams.Car, Marc, Patran

I would like to setup our MSC products to run while I'm not connected to our network (like I have seen done with Catia in my last work place)

There does not seem to be a lot of information freely available on this and we don't have a support contract any more with MSC so I'm hoping you guys can help.

The MSC token based licensing works differently than the way FlexNet does with programs like NX, Pro/E and CATIA.
I think there is a way to borrow X tokens and use them while disconnected, but it has been a while since I used MSC products.

Thanks Greg,

I have managed to find this in my help file but not in the actual program!

I am running Adams 2005 by the way.

Anyway, from reading the help file, it seem it gives the license back when you exit Adams which is not really what I want. I was hoping to be able to hold the licenses for a couple of weeks at a time.

Yes, there is a mechanism to do that as some people take laptops into the wilds and check out a license onto that machine. But I don't know how that is done. Mine works from home via the corporate intranet.

RE: Borrowing/offline use - MSC Licenses, Adams.Car, Marc, Patran

Flex licences need to be specifically made to allow borrowing.    It's not uncommon for vendors to allow commercial (i.e. expensive) licences to be borrowable, but academic/grant/etc (i.e. free or very cheap) licences not to be borrowable.  For the same application.

If your licence does allow borrowing, then it's entirely intentional.  You should ask the vendor how to set it up.

Thanks Steve/Greg

Unfortunately we terminated our support contract a couple years ago, so I'm hoping to sort this out another way - i.e. finding someone who has done it before.

Found a great guide on these forums for doing exactly this in Catia but the licensing system of MSC is much different.
