RE: Superballmotor engine inforamtion

The video does a beautiful job of explaining how it should work.
... except for the complex sealing surfaces.
... except for the cam balls spinning at N x rpm.
...

At least it doesn't have the usual toroidal cylinders and toroidal segment pistons.

I'm guessing the prototype split the cases at the cam tracks before it had time to coke up from blowby or seize from inadequate lubrication.  ... but that's just speculation.

RE: Superballmotor engine inforamtion

If the base engine is as smooth as claimed, why not just make a bigger one?  What advantages accrue from quadrupling the complexity to get more displacement?

I have not visited the link, as I felt no need.
My assumption (which may well be wrong) is that any quantum leap in internal combustion engine architecture (or any significant technology, for that matter) will happen inside closed doors of industrial or government research, and will likely not attach the word "super" to its description.  When it is publicized, it will be done very carefully, and deliberately, most likely in a peer-reviewed or patent publication.

RE: Superballmotor engine inforamtion

Wow, you actually expected them to share their engineering data with you???

As for the motor - at least they have a pretty looking prototype put together, not that it actually means anything.
