Destructive testing of pipe
(OP)
When making pipe say wall thickness .281 is being produced and needs to have tensile pulls done.
how do i get a sample size of .965 x .394?

Is this what you are talking about? That MTR indicates a longitudinal strip test with a wall thickness of .394" on the sample. This .394" wall is within the tolerance range of NPS 5 XS pipe.
In your other thread you said you got another batch of NPS 4 pipe with .281 wall with the same heat number. I believe your MTR would not cover that NPS 4 pipe because SA-530 section 26.1.5 requires the tension sample to have the same diameter and wall thickness. Does that answer your question?
RE: Destructive testing of pipe
As for the 5" pipe the wall thickness covers my concern.
You input has helped me to decide that i will not reject this load of pipe, but i will look at som e of the other suppliers MTRS see if they have ever reduced the impacts on this pipe.
