Single phase to three phase rotary converter

Single phase to three phase rotary converter

Single phase to three phase rotary converter

(OP)
Hello, I want to build a rotary phase converter from a three phase induction motor. I have three phase AC motor 3 kW, 400/690 V and single phase 230 V 50 Hz. I saw that this is posible, but i cant find the schematics.. Can someone draw schematics??? tnx, and sorry for my bad english.

RE: Single phase to three phase rotary converter

Connect the motor to the line with T1 and T3. Buy a box of capacitors and add capacitors between T1 and T2 until it works.

RE: Single phase to three phase rotary converter

This link is to a web forum for home machinists what do this a lot because most machine tools are set up for 3 phase and most residential services are single phase. they get so many questions and ideas that they made it a 'sticky" post.

This is for american 240 V single phase, they have 240 V two phases for heavy appliences. but i have only one phase.

RE: Single phase to three phase rotary converter

American 240 V is a psuedo-split phase; 120 V phase to neutral and minus 120 V phase to neutral.  What do you have available?  What motor voltage?

RE: Single phase to three phase rotary converter

The only main difference I know between "American" 240V single phase and the 240V (or 220V or 230V) single phase available in other parts of the world is the possible location of the system connection.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but no-one here will spoon feed a diagram to you. If you are using this site then you are expected to have enough engineering type knowledge to be capable of reading, understanding and then finally coming up with your own working design.

Lionel - your centre-tapped 240V is 20% faster than ours. wink

hmmm, that was supposed to read system ground connection.
