I am trying to make a general arrangement drawing of a large assembly which contains about 2000 parts and subassemblies. due to the computer (although with the correct and uptodate hardware etc) becomes slow. I was hoping opening assembly is large assembly mode helps but no gain. does anyone know any setting in solidworks 2010 that can assist making faster drawings.

RE: solidworks drawings

What are your system specs? Are you opening up locally or across a network? Have you tried opening with selective view?

I dont know much about my comp specs but i know its about 4 years old comp in the company and cant change it soon. we are opening files locally for sure. i did not understand meaning of opening selective view. is it a feature of SW 2010

RE: solidworks drawings

When you go to File->Open, you can choose to open in Quick View or lightweight.
I suspect, though, that your computer is a bit short on power. Go to Start->Right click on 'My Computer', then properties. You'll see your system specs there; OS, Hard Drive, RAM, etc. Let us know what it says.
