Hi Everyone
we have recently moved to nx 7.0.1.7 mp2
when we use the hole series to create holes it moves the solid bodies to the current work layer. can this be prevented?

thanks

RE: nx 7 hole series

I suspect that you're first setting the Component which the hole starts in to be the Work Part before you create your Through Hole, right?

Try leaving the Components as they are and work in the context of the Assembly itself.  That is create the Through Hole while the Assembly is the Work Part.  In order to make this work, just before you select the location for the Hole(s), make sure that the 'Selection Scope' is set to 'Entire Assembly' (note that in NX 6.0 a extra sheet body may be created on the face where you're placeing the hole(s) which you will have to manually Hide, but that this behavior will be improved starting with NX 7.0).

Anyway, this is the recommended workflow when creating Through Holes.

Thanks John, I have tryed it that way as well and it still moves everything to your current work layer. I will investigate further and let you know the outcome

RE: nx 7 hole series

I suggest you also check...

Customer Defaults -> Assemblies -> General -> Component Operations

...and make sure that all of the layer options are set to 'Original'.
