Our part files are part numbers only. For example "123-456.sldprt". Looking at that part number, I would have no idea what this part is. I would like to see a description while in windows explorer or when I am in Solid Works and select "file open". Is there a way to display custom properties from SW in Explorer such as "Description"?

RE: View Custom Properties in Explorer

Yup, go to Windows explorer, display details, right click on the header, then select properties from the drop down list. This is directory specific, but you could probably set it globally.

RE: View Custom Properties in Explorer

I neglected to point out you need to select "more..." to see the rest of the properties.
"More? You want MORE?"

Thanks, That did it. In order to see the new property, I had to save and close my file. Once it showed up, it stayed.
