quadratic mean of acceleration signals

quadratic mean of acceleration signals

quadratic mean of acceleration signals

(OP)
Hi all,

I am confused in quadratic mean of acceleration signals. I have seen one report where quadratic mean graph is provided for 12 acceleration signals in frequency domain and I have been asked to do the same. All these acceleration sensors have mounted on one big gear box and quadratic mean is taken of all sensors and plotted in single graph. What exactly this means and how to do the same???

My guess is - Take 12 acceleration sensors as A to L. Acceleration signals in frequency domain contain 1000 points with frequency ranges from 1 to 1000. We can name these points as A1 to A1000, B1 to B1000 and so on. Now to get quadratic mean of all sensors, for first frequency point I will take A1, B1, C1, D1.....L1. I will calculate quadratic mean of these values and likewise will continue for 1000 points. Am I right in this???

Also what this signifies???

Thanks in advance.
