7.5+ Movie tools

7.5+ Movie tools

7.5+ Movie tools

(OP)
Started playing around with the movie tools over the weekend. Was wondering if there is a way to create a movie without any of the pull-downs showing up in the completed movie ?

Thanks,
Kirk

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

Kirk,

Is the concern the dialog to get to the stop record at the end? if so, can you use the hot key (Alt F7) to end the recording?
Or is the concent the dialog during the activites being recored? Can the toolss, movie, settings, "capture area" set to "Graphics" do the trick?

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

You could set the movie to only record the contents of the NX Graphics window and then unlink the NX Graphics window so that you can control it's size and location independent of the NX window thus avoiding having any dialogs occluding any portion of the smaller NX Graphics window, as seen in the attached image.

Ah ha, something new for the old dog. How would I go about "unlinking" the graphics window ?

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

Perhaps if I had said 'unmaximize' it would have been more obvious.  See the attached image for a help in finding the place to go.

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

Is there any way to enhance the "Record Movie" resolution?  This feature works great, but the video quality is very poor.
Thanks!

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

This is generally dependent on which codec (the algorithms used to perform the video compression) that is used when recording the video.  The compression options (or codecs) supplied with NX are ones which were provided free by Microsoft and the supplier of the tools we used to create this feature.  There are others which you can either download from the net (some free, some not) or which come with programs like Camtasia from TechSmith.  If you have, for example, Camtasia installed on your system then you will also have access to their suite of codecs which are often superior to the ones which are available for free from the net.

Hi Alderfek,

I have purchaged a license of FastStone Capture.
It costed me $19,95 and it is a pretty usefull tool.
You can screengrab what you want and it works fine with Screen recording too.

Does all what it needs to do, except the White Background you have to do yourself...

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

John,
if you have a better codec installed, how do you select that codec when recording a movie?

RE: 7.5+ Movie tools

On the 'Movie' toolbar, select the far Right icon, labeled 'Movie Recording Settings', and in the first section of the dialog where it says 'Compression', this where you can select from a list of available codecs.
