plastic valves VS lined metallic valves

plastic valves VS lined metallic valves

(OP)
Good morning,

I need to choose some valves for a neutralization plant involving Hcl Acid(30%, T°30C) pipes and NaOH (30%, T°45°C) pipes. The operating pressure is 6 Bars.
I'd like to know the pros and cons for using plastic valves vs lined metallic valves (linned with PTFE or any other thermoplastic).
In my mind, i think plastic valves are les expensive but the are less rugged than metallic valves. I think also that high temperature (45°C) can affect plastic valves life.
Am i wrong or right? Is there a possibility that plastic valves could be use in such application?

Thank you very much.

RE: plastic valves VS lined metallic valves

A few manufacturers offer plastic valves.  I mostly buy control valves where very few manufacturers exist.  I would speculate that the flanged style valves would not be rated the ASME flange class.  Spare parts could be an issue.  You would not likely obtain any QA certificates.  Still some applications seem to be appropriate for plastic valve bodies.

Thanks JLSeagull,

I'll check if flanged style plastic valves are rated the ASME Flange class. If not, it can be a serious issue to solve.
In fact, most of the valves i am looking for are manually operated. So, i think there are more manufacturers in this case than it is for control valves.

Iam still open for any suggestion regarding this topic.

Thank you very much.

Check with GF, www.georgfisher.com from Switzerland, they have plastic control valves for chemical industries.

Thank you very much ferdy!

The catalogue of georgfisher is really impressive. There are a lot of plastic products for industrial process (what i am looking for actually).
Great!!!
