laser welding plastic, and laser soldering

(OP)
We have a couple of product problems that may be solved with a laser. First problem is to seal a glass lens into a delrin lens base: we can make a small bezel which overhangs the lens and laser or hot-stamp it to act as (hopefully) a seal or at minimum a means of clamping the lens in place. These are small parts, the lens is .250 inches in diameter and looks like a bowler hat; the rim is 0.040 thick and we need to hold this outer edge with the bezel, with the thickness of the proposed bezel maybe 0.02 to 0.04 inches. We can buy a 10 Watt YAG laser (30 Watt pulsed)at a good price. Will it do the job? Also, given the same YAG laser, we are looking at soldering some small pins in a special assembly (access is an issue with soldering iron)and we are hoping that 10 Watts would be enough to melt the solder preforms. Pin thickness 20 thou.

Hoping for insight.
